1. Luaţi seama să nu vă îndepliniţi neprihănirea voastră înaintea oamenilor, ca să fiţi văzuţi de ei; altminteri, nu veţi avea răsplată dela Tatăl vostru care este în ceruri.
2. Tu, dar, cînd faci milostenie, nu suna cu trîmbiţa înaintea ta, cum fac făţarnicii, în sinagogi şi în uliţe, pentru ca să fie slăviţi de oameni. Adevărat vă spun, că şi-au luat răsplata.
